Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has accused some shortlisted Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) aspirants of attempting to influence assembly members to vote against presidential nominees.

Her comments come in the wake of the Shai Osudoku District Assembly’s rejection of Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, the President’s nominee for District Chief Executive, who received only 17 out of 32 votes, failing to meet the required threshold for confirmation.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, May 5, Ocloo issued a stern warning: “If assemblies fail to confirm the President’s nominees, no new candidates will be considered for those roles.”

She added, “If we instigate people not to vote for the presidential nominee and disgrace the president, thinking that because your name is shortlisted you will be appointed, that’s a lie. We’ll ensure that those who do not support the nominee will also not be appointed.”

Ocloo emphasized her commitment to re-presenting the candidate, stating, “Even if we have to reappoint someone, we will go outside the box to do that. We are not going to advise. We are going to re-present the candidate… Even if it takes a thousand times, we will re-present the candidate.”
