The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to brief Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, regarding the payment of statutory funds and other critical financial issues. This information was shared by Majority Leader Mr. Mahama Ayariga during the presentation of the Business Statement for the week ending Friday, June 6, 2025.
Mr. Ayariga announced that 11 ministers are scheduled to appear before Parliament to respond to a total of 72 questions. There may also be opportunities for some ministers to make statements regarding government policies, and the House is expected to receive various papers and reports from committees for discussion.
During the session, Deputy Minority Whip Mr. Habib Iddrisu and Minority Chief Whip Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh inquired about the timeline for the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget. The Minority also raised concerns regarding President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to declare only June 6 as a public holiday for Eid-ul-Adha, despite earlier commitments for two days.
In response, Mr. Ayariga stated that the Mid-Year Budget would be presented in due course. He also confirmed that the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, would appear before the House to amend the Public Holidays Bill to align with the President’s promise.
