The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in financial rewards for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024, doubling the prize money for the tournament winner and raising the total prize pool by 45%.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized the organization’s commitment to advancing women’s football in Africa, stating, “This increase in prize money should contribute to raising the salaries of women football players, coaches, and employees. The quality and standard of women’s football in Africa are consistently improving and are now world-class.”

The new prize distribution for participating national teams is as follows:

  • Winner: USD 1,000,000
  • Runner-Up: USD 500,000
  • Third Place: USD 350,000
  • Fourth Place: USD 300,000
  • Quarter-Finalists (4 Teams): USD 200,000 each
  • 3rd in Group Stage: USD 150,000
  • 4th in Group Stage (3 Teams): USD 125,000 each

Total Prize Money: USD 3,475,000

Dr. Motsepe expressed excitement over the growing number of fans, broadcast viewers, and sponsors for WAFCON 2024, predicting that the competition will be enormously successful.
