The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging passport applicants who paid for processing before the rollout of the new chip-embedded passports to take immediate action.
In a statement released on Friday, July 4, 2025, the Ministry noted that individuals who made payments but had not completed their passport applications before the introduction of the new system on April 28, 2025, are affected by a portal shutdown. The digital platform that previously hosted applications under the old passport system is currently unavailable due to the transition to the new chip-embedded passport regime.
The Ministry encourages all affected applicants to reach out to the Passport Office Client Service Unit at 0302 754 200 for assistance and further guidance. While the new portal for chip-embedded passports is accessible at passport.mfa.gov.gh, applicants from the previous system must now seek direct support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of public cooperation to ensure a smooth transition and efficient service delivery.
