In a devastating turn of events, Ghana has been plunged into mourning following the confirmed deaths of two senior government officials in a military helicopter crash en route to Obuasi.
The Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. The news was officially announced by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, prompting a wave of national sorrow.
According to military sources, the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter carrying the ministers and other personnel crashed during its journey to the Ashanti Region. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but initial reports point to poor weather conditions.
The crash also claimed the lives of:
- Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
- Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC

In honour of their service and sacrifice, all national flags will be flown at half-mast, as directed by the Office of the President.
