The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have joined forces to recruit 5,000 Fire Service Assistants. This collaboration aims to enhance fire safety and emergency response while creating job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
This initiative aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, which seeks to boost productivity, competitiveness, and job creation. Officials from both ministries expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to promote youth employment and contribute to national development.
At the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Hon. Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, highlighted the partnership’s potential benefits for youth employment and national growth. Meanwhile, Hon. George Opare Addo, Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, thanked his counterpart for implementing this module and encouraged the development of similar initiatives with other agencies under his ministry.
Mr. Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of YEA, and Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, Ag. Chief Fire Officer of GNFS, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving their respective mandates.
The recruitment of Fire Service Assistants will not only strengthen the operations of the GNFS but also contribute to the nation’s overall development. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to empowering youth and enhancing the capabilities of the Ghana National Fire Service, particularly in response to recent fire outbreaks across the country.
The GNFS and YEA are eager to work together to implement this partnership and achieve its objectives.
