Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has praised the Gbese Mantse’s initiative to include sporting events in this year’s Homowo celebrations, calling it a symbol of unity among Ghanaians.
The Peace Cup Match, scheduled for August 7, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium, is a highlight of the Homowo festivities. This follows the successful Peace Cup Match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kpando Heart of Lions, held ahead of the 2024 elections.
At the launch of the Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Cup Match, organized by His Royal Majesty Nii Ayi Bonte II, Kofi Adams expressed his strong support for the Gbese Traditional Council. He highlighted the role of peace in fostering unity through sports.
“I am thrilled that His Royal Majesty has prioritized sports in this year’s Homowo celebrations, concluding the festivities with a unity game. I extend my gratitude to him and his cabinet for promoting this shared purpose,” Adams stated.
As Minister for Sports and Recreation, he assured that his ministry and the government will fully support the event, aiming to make this year’s celebration even more remarkable.
