Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has received a nomination in the Best International Act category at the 2025 BET Awards, marking a significant milestone in his rapidly rising career.

The hitmaker behind “Second Sermon” and “Kwaku The Traveller” will compete against a diverse lineup of global talents, including Tyla (South Africa), Rema and Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Any Gabrielly and Luanna (Brazil), Basky and Ezra Collective (UK), Uncle Waffles (Eswatini), and Joé Dwèt Filé and SDM (France).

This nomination marks Black Sherif’s first at the main BET Awards, although he previously earned a BET Hip Hop Awards nomination in 2023, highlighting his growing presence on the international music scene.

The 23-year-old rapper, born Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, rose to fame in 2021 with a series of viral singles that blended drill, Afrobeat, and highlife influences, establishing him as one of Ghana’s most unique musical exports. His storytelling, raw energy, and reflective lyrics have resonated with audiences across Africa and beyond.

His latest album, “Iron Boy,” has been making waves on streaming platforms and music charts, further solidifying his status as a leading voice in the new generation of African musicians.

Previous Ghanaian acts recognized at the BET Awards include Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Kwesi Arthur, Camidoh, R2Bees, MzVee, D Black, Fuse ODG, and Kojo Antwi.

The 2025 BET Awards will celebrate achievements in music, entertainment, and culture across the Black diaspora, with the ceremony expected to draw global attention.
