During the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu-Amantin, Hon. Mas’ud Ayarba Thomas C.A., held at the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in Techiman on May 7, 2025, the Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, emphasized the critical importance of peace and unity for the development of the Bono East Region.
A Call for Peace and Unity
In his address, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi stressed that without peace and unity, the region would struggle to achieve meaningful development. “Our region is blessed with abundant resources and potential, but these will remain untapped if we do not come together as one people,” he stated. The Minister urged all stakeholders, including community leaders, residents, and the newly appointed MCE, to prioritize harmony and collaboration in their efforts to drive progress.
He highlighted that conflicts and divisions weaken communities and hinder development initiatives. “We must work towards resolving our differences and focus on common goals that benefit everyone,” he added. The Minister’s remarks resonated with the audience, emphasizing that the strength of the region lies in its unity.
Advice for the Newly Sworn MCE
Addressing Hon. Mas’ud directly, the Minister offered several key pieces of advice to guide him in his new role. Firstly, he urged the MCE to show maximum respect for the people of Atebubu-Amantin. “Respect is the foundation of effective leadership,” he said. By listening to the concerns and needs of the community, Hon. Mas’ud can build trust and foster a collaborative spirit among residents.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of inclusivity in development planning. “Ensure that you strategically include all segments of the population in your development plans,” he advised. This includes engaging women, youth, and marginalized groups to ensure that their voices are heard, and their needs are addressed. The Minister believes that inclusive governance leads to better decision-making and more effective outcomes.

Promoting Dialogue and Collaboration
The Minister also encouraged Hon. Mas’ud to promote dialogue among various stakeholders. “Create platforms for open communication where community members can share their ideas and grievances,” he suggested. Facilitating regular town hall meetings and forums can help foster a sense of ownership and participation among residents, making them feel valued in the decision-making process.
In addition, the Minister highlighted the need for the MCE to collaborate with other local authorities and organizations. “Building partnerships with NGOs, community groups, and private sector players can enhance the resources available for development projects,” he noted. By leveraging these partnerships, the municipality can tap into additional expertise and funding, ultimately benefiting the community.
Focus on Sustainable Development
The Regional Minister also emphasized the importance of sustainable development. “As you embark on various projects, consider the long-term impacts on the environment and the community,” he advised. Hon. Mas’ud was encouraged to prioritize initiatives that not only address immediate needs but also safeguard the region’s natural resources for future generations. This approach ensures that development is balanced and equitable.
Conclusion: A Collective Responsibility
In conclusion, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi reiterated that the path to development lies in collective effort and commitment to peace and unity. “Let us come together as one community, united in purpose and vision,” he urged. He expressed confidence that under Hon. Mas’ud’s leadership, Atebubu-Amantin could become a model for development in the region.
As the newly sworn MCE prepares to take on the challenges of his role, the Minister’s call for peace, respect, inclusivity, and sustainable development will serve as guiding principles. With the support of the community and a focus on unity, the Atebubu-Amantin and Bono East Region can look forward to a brighter and more prosperous future.
