The Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC) has announced the upcoming Africa Sustainable Energy Dialogue (ASED), set to take place virtually on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Under the theme “Bridging Africa’s Energy Access Gap – Challenges, Innovations & the Path Forward,” the dialogue will address one of the continent’s most pressing development challenges—achieving universal access to reliable electricity.
With over 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa lacking dependable power, the ASED aims to provide a platform for sharing innovative solutions, shaping actionable policy frameworks, and enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The event is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, including policymakers, energy sector executives, development partners, scholars, and technology innovators, all working toward a sustainable energy future that aligns with Africa’s development and transition goals.
Confirmed speakers for the 2025 dialogue include:
- Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim (Nigeria) – Secretary-General, African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO)
- Mr. Kweku Awotwi (Ghana) – Regional Chair-Africa, World Energy Council; Board Chairman, United Bank of Africa (Ghana)
