
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man in Akatsi for allegedly possessing a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp.
The suspect, Bukari Yakubu, was apprehended at his home around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, during a police operation based on intelligence gathered over time. Officers had reportedly been monitoring his activities prior to the arrest.
A search of Yakubu’s residence uncovered 92 slabs of a substance believed to be Indian hemp, wrapped in yellowish material. Additionally, police discovered two Royal motorbikes, which they suspect may have been stolen.
Yakubu admitted ownership of the items and is believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade in Akatsi and surrounding areas. He is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations, with plans to present him in court soon.
