The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board, designed to facilitate engagement between the ministry and its key stakeholders, with the goal of enhancing service delivery.

Chaired by Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the board includes notable members such as Minister for Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Trade and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, and Minister for Defence Edward Omane Boamah, along with former Minister for Foreign Affairs Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi and others.

In his address as Chairman, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasized the board’s timely establishment in light of current challenges in global diplomacy. He assured that its work would deliver tangible results rather than merely existing for appearances.

“Your perspectives and guidance as members of the Advisory Board will serve as a compass in navigating these evolving complexities and will undoubtedly enrich the Ministry’s policy outline, enhance accountability, and promote more inclusive governance,” he stated.

He further noted, “If there’s any time in our geopolitics that we need a formidable ministerial advisory board, it is now. We are in uncharted waters; it’s a fluid situation, and nobody fully understands where we stand.”

Additionally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs inaugurated the first-ever Governing Council for the Foreign Service Institute. This council comprises diplomats, including Ambassador Ramses Cleland, as well as members from the private sector, such as economist Frederick Amissah.

In his remarks, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa outlined the Council’s mandate to bridge the gap between academic theory and diplomatic practice, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to improving the effectiveness of Ghana’s diplomatic efforts.
