Scores of people have been injured in a multiple-vehicle crash at Krofrom in the Kumasi metropolis after a heavy downpour on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred when a cargo truck reportedly lost control while descending from the Krofrom traffic light towards Ashtown. Near the X5 Pub, the truck rammed into several vehicles.
Eyewitnesses report that the driver lost control of the steering, causing the truck to plow into oncoming traffic, trapping both drivers and passengers in their vehicles.
Bystanders and good Samaritans quickly intervened, prying open the mangled vehicles to rescue the occupants.
Several injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The exact number of casualties remains unclear as of Friday evening.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are urging road users to exercise caution, especially during wet conditions.
