Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi and Majority Chief Whip, has filed a defamation lawsuit against fellow MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour of Assin South. The legal action stems from a social media post made by Rev. Fordjour on May 8, 2025, in which he alleged that Dafeamekpor, during his tenure as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation, accepted a payment of GH¢360,000 from embattled former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, to facilitate the passage of a Legislative Instrument (L.I.).
Kwabena Adu-Boahene is currently defending accusations of fraud and misappropriation of GH¢49.1 million, claiming that allowances of GH¢960,000 and GH¢309,000 were disbursed to MPs on the Defence and Interior Committee and the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, respectively.
In his post, Rev. Fordjour called for a comprehensive investigation involving Dafeamekpor and others, asserting that those implicated would be held accountable once the probe commenced.
In response, Dafeamekpor filed a statement of claim, vehemently denying the allegations and labeling the post as “false, malicious, and defamatory.” He stated that he has suffered economic harm, business loss, disruption of professional activities, and severe emotional distress due to the widespread dissemination of the defamatory statements.
The suit demands a retraction and public apology from Rev. Fordjour, along with an interlocutory injunction to prevent him and his associates from making any further statements pending the case’s outcome. Dafeamekpor seeks an order restraining Fordjour from publishing additional defamatory statements and requiring him to retract the claims made online.
This lawsuit comes amid ongoing legal proceedings against Kwabena Adu-Boahene, who faces charges of stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state. The case is set to be heard on May 26 for a case management conference.
