President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled plans to distribute and install streetlights across all districts in Accra. This initiative aims to promote the 24-hour economy, benefiting individuals who work at night.
During a ‘Thank-you Tour’ of the Greater Accra Region, President Mahama praised Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo and the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for their efforts in enhancing street lighting and public safety.
The President emphasized that well-lit communities not only deter crime but also improve urban mobility. He urged local authorities to continue and expand the initiative, assuring them of full support from the central government.
“I encourage the continuation and expansion of this initiative and will give it the full support of the central government,” he stated.
By improving street lighting, the government aims to create a safer environment for nighttime economic activities, fostering growth and development in the region.
